Government considers offering engineering courses via distance mode

NEW DELHI: Keen to ensure that by 2020 at least 30 out of every 100 person in the age group of 17 to 22 receive higher education , the government has turned its attention to sprucing up and increasing offering in the open and distance learning sector. This includes providing engineering courses through this route, making open and distance learning degrees equivalent to conventional university degrees and setting up an independent regulatory regime.
