ORANGE BEACH— Maralyn Wilson and Melanie Colvin’s introductory encaustic workshop which took place July 21 was so popular that participants requested more classes. To meet this demand a two day class will meet Saturday and Sunday Sept. 15-16.
Come spend a creative play day learning how to create with encaustic wax. Wilson and Colvin will be teaching the basics of encaustic wax using colored wax and clear medium. You will learn how to paint with the wax and explore techniques including texturing, masking, transferring, layering, pastels, rice paper, collage, Xerox transfers, oil sticks, monoprints and line incising.
All levels welcome. The only requirement is to have fun.
The class cost $150 for one day ($300 for both days) plus $60 fee for encaustic starter kit. The kit includes: five encaustic colored waxes (white, yellow, red, blue, and green.), two flat 5-by-7- inch and one 8-by-10-inch Encausticbords, soy wax for clean-up, two palette cups, two one-inch hake brushes, and basic encaustic manual. Additional supplies are needed, list provided after registering.
