I am working in an elevators company for sales, I am B.Com MBA, I have completed my XII th in Science now I want a civil engineering degree through distance learning, will it work for my better future? if yes then which institution is best for that in Pune

Distance learning is for easy subjects like commerce and psycology but for civil engineers you need to apply to the very best school you can find or you'll hardly get the respect youre looking for as an engineer. same for degrees in philosphy too strangely enough. I'm mostly self taught in philosophy but with tricky egineering programs there are foreign things you need firm examples from a lecturer from. Distance learning has those advantages where you can work and study but most of them don't get you very far apart from being qualified to a certain point. Over a guy who trained at MIT who do you pick for the job.

There are very few Universities provide distance education for Engineering Under Graduate Courses

The Institution of Engineers (India) provides facilities to secure AMIE, which is equivalent an Engineering Degree. In order to obtain AMIE, one will have to pass section ‘A’ and section ‘B’ examinations. Diploma holders in engineering are also eligible to register in the Diploma stream of the AMIE Examination. For one, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), offers B.Tech. Courses Courses in the distance education mode
Eligibility Those who have passed the three-year Diploma Course in Civil/ Mechanical / Electrical / Computer/ Architecture/ Chemical Engineering and are employed in the relevant fields are eligible for admission.
In Civil Engineering - the four-year B.Tech. Civil Construction Management Programme has been designed to impart training and continuing professional education to upgrade diploma-level manpower engaged in managing construction tasks. The programme structure has been designed so as to provide inbuilt modularity and flexibility. The successful completion of the first two modules (first and second year) makes you eligible for the award of Advanced Diploma in Construction Management (ADCM). The student will have the flexibility to study either ADCM and exit from the system or to complete the B.Tech. degree.

B.Tech. Civil (Water Resource Engineering) is a continuing education programme for working diploma holders engaged in the water resources sector. It is also a four year degree programme that offers inbuilt flexibility in terms of intermediate award of Advanced Diploma in Water Resource Engineering (ADWRE) after successful completion of first two modules.

Students also have an option to discontinue after obtaining ADWRE and take up studies as a later date to complete the degree programmes. For more details visit www.ignou.ac.in.

The Directorate of Distance Education of the SRM University, have introduced B.Tech. (four-year) courses in Civil/ Mechanical / Electrical & Electronics Engineering/ Electronics and Communication Engineering / Electronics and Instrumentation / Computer Science and Engineering / Information Technology in the distance education mode. Entry qualification is a pass in 10 + 2 or its equivalent with minimum aggregate of 50 per cent marks in maths, physics and chemistry. Lateral Entry facility (Direct admission to the second year) is also provided to three-year engineering diploma holders in the relevant branch. Audit reveals chinks in Madras University

CHENNAI: If there is one advice which the faculty of the Institute of Distance Education (IDE) of the University of Madras cannot give their students it is this: "Don't postpone studying till the last minute of examinations. " For, the students can't study periodically even if they want to. It has come to light that study materials were being delivered to students of some undergraduate and postgraduate courses as late as May, just when the examinations were around. Worse, in some cases the students only ended up paying the fees for study materials that were never delivered or printed.
